Doctor John Close Receives Teaching Award

November 2006.

The Carrick Institute has recognised Dr. John Close with a prestigious award for his contributions to the integration of undergraduate students into the research environment within ACQAO.

``I have had the privilege to be involved with the ANU PhB program. Under this program, the Australian National University recruits the top high school graduates in the country and places them in a research intensive undergraduate degree. I have worked largely with these very talented students and found it very rewarding.

Awards like this are important to raise the profile of teaching, and I am certainly pleased that my effort has been recognised in this way. It encourages me to continue to put significant effort into undergraduate education.''

John, like many of his colleagues, has worked to unify, to some extent, teaching and research.

ACQAO also thanks John for his commitment to teaching and offers sincere congratulations.
